Understanding Sport and Religion

Posted August 13th, 2008 by TheOtherRichard

Through the lanes of Fitzroy to the beaches of Manly, along the ridges of the Glasshouse mountains, on the level tarmac of the Gunbarrel Highway the length of the Nullarbor plain to the turtle inhabited beaches of the Kimberly coast… once every four years a dull sound becomes a murmur and then a hum… throughout Australia a repeated mantra: ‘per capita, per capita, per capita…’

Update: The Armenians (somewhere in Europe people) apparently have the gaul to win enough bronze to be in front of Australia in total medals Per Capita. And everything just goes crazy if you introduce GDP into the equation.
